Capture a face, a memory, a likeness. Portrait work is among the most demanding styles in tattooing — and one of our strengths.

What goes into a great portrait
Portrait work depends on two things: a strong reference and an artist’s command of shading and proportion. A clear, high-resolution, well-lit photo gives the artist the detail needed to capture a true likeness. From there, smooth gradients and accurate values bring the face to life in black & grey or color. Portraits read best at medium to large sizes — enough room for the detail that makes a likeness land and age well.
